Barack Owns Hillary

55%-27%
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!

(CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama claimed a significant victory in South Carolina on Saturday, telling supporters "we are hungry for change."

The Illinois senator earned more than twice the vote that rival Sen. Hillary Clinton did, 55 percent to 27 percent, unofficial returns showed.

Former Sen. John Edwards was expected to come in third in the state's Democratic primary, according to CNN projections.

"Tonight, the cynics who believed that what began in the snows of Iowa was just an illusion were told a different story by the good people of South Carolina," Obama said to supporters Saturday.

A win in South Carolina was considered crucial for Obama, who won Iowa but finished second to Clinton in New Hampshire and Nevada.

Who I Support: Barack Obama

To me, Obama stands for hope. Sure it sounds cliche as hell, but it's true. Hope is what we need now in our country, after 8 years of a president that betrayed our sense of hope.

In our country right now, we don't need anger, division or fear. What we need is hope, civility and change, which I believe Obama can offer.

Obama also inspires young people--the future voters of America. We need a person young voters can get behind--after all, it's our future.

Obama stands for hope, as do I.

It really pisses me off when...

People talk about politics/espouse ideals and have no idea what in the HELL they are talking about (both lefties and righties).

For righties: Right Wing "hippies"
Yeah, I know, being a "hippie" is "trendy" and "cool" now and you adorn your myspace page with "peace" icons and "love everybody" word graphics. But really, you're just another rich, suburban white kid who unquestionably agrees with the decidedly non-hippie political views of your parents. It's contridictory to be all "peace love and happiness" and then be like "Bush is the best thing ever" (or whatever), IMO. We could go into music, too but that's a whole other story....

For lefties: Rich/middle-class, suburban white kids who pretend to know about the plight of the poor man/ being anti-Bush because it's "trendy"

New Poll: 36% of active-duty military, veterans and their families believe "it was worth it going into Iraq"

Very, very interesting. We all have known this for a long time, though.

Who still supports the war? Anyone? Bueller?

Holy War: A Post Modern Look at the Rhetoric Behind Bush’s “Crusade”

An article for the school paper written by a friend of mine. It's REALLY good. I suggest you guys read it, no joke.

Shut Up and Listen

another article that I wrote for my school paper...it was published a few issues back.
=)

Imagine this: you’re sitting at a concert, enjoying the music and the atmosphere when the artist makes a political statement. Gasp, shock, horror. After all, we’re approaching an election year and politics is at the forefront of everybody’s mind. After you consider what the artist says, you’re train of thought is interrupted by a rude, uncouth “fan”, booing at the top of their lungs over the said political statement.
What is wrong with this situation? No, it’s not the artist making political statements. Nor is it your thoughtful consideration. It’s the “fans” who buy tickets to these shows, knowing very well the political persuasion of the artist, and yet, booing anyway. I mean, what’s the point? You’re just putting money into the pockets of people that are going to eventually give it to candidates you disagree with.

Colbert's No Stiff---article for school paper

This is my latest article for my school newspaper, of which I am apart of. Enjoy Smiling
BTW, IMO, it kinda goes with the purpose of this site too...yay!

Since he announced his bid for the prestigious position of the presidency, support for Stephen Colbert has exploded across the nation—“Colbert mania” if you will. From Facebook groups to hoards of fans sporting “Colbert 08” regalia, the Colbert fever is inescapable. Ever the jokester, Colbert told the nation that he was running on both the Democratic and Republican ticket—but only in his home state, and primary heavyweight South Carolina.

Am I a Bitch?

Ok, I HATE hate HATE being "forced" to give money to some charity/do community service (I have to have 100 hours to friggen graduate from high school!)/etc. It's not like I dont care about the people in need, it's just I hate being forced to help people. I should help people because I want to, not because I have to have 100 service hours to graduate from high school and go to college and start a life of my own.

And sometimes, I feel most community service is a chore. Sure, it's nice to build a home for some poor family, but it doesn't mean I wanna give up my Saturday to do manual labor.

Don't get me wrong, I like some community service (stuff that involves arts, crafts and kids, for instance--though I normally hate kids other times. Well, I hate stuck up little priviliged kids Sticking out tongue)

My views on this are such a paradox....gawd. On one hand, I hate being forced to help people (i.e. "I'm a heartless bitch") but I also hate not doing community service type stuff.

Whatevsss.

First Official Blog Post

As my first official blog post of this website, I will give to you my Bill O'Reilly poem.

The backstory: This started out as a school assignment (you had to pick a public figure and write a poem in iamic pentameter about them--people had to guess who they were, etc.) So I picked O'Reilly...and here it is.

The Culture Warrior
A large, pompous, irate man filled with rage
Sits inside of your television screen.
Angry at the world, this man is no sage
But merely self-righteous, seething and mean.

Fox News Channel; a haven for his ilk,
With the "War on Christmas" continual.
"The Secular Progressives deserve milk
Nor cookies for their efforts perpetual."

With Murdoch his master, the old man pleased,
His face as red as Utah or Texas.
“Watch out for Stephen Colbert," colleagues wheezed,
“Or he’ll destroy the No Spin nexus!”

“SHUT UP!” he bellows, “Now switch to Hannity!”
He himself a victim of vanity.

Going live this Tuesday!
